Laminate Flooring Info

Types, Brands, Differences in laminate floors etc.

Laminate Flooring Is an entirely manufactured product. It is usually made by fusing or laminating a photograph of actual hardwood flooring on a high density fiberboard base also known as the core, and then its covered with a clear wear layer usually made of melamine.

Laminate flooring is one of the most durable, and most forgiving floors you can buy.  It is very highly scratch and dent resistant.

It is also a much more economical way of getting a hardwood or even a tile or stone look for a much lower price.

Laminate flooring was originally introduced in the American market by Pergo in about 1994 and was a huge success.

It has come a long way since. Every year there have been major advances in all aspects of the product. It has become more and more real wood like and overall more economical since. It is also the easiest to clean and doesn't require any buffing, waxing or polishing ever.

While most laminate Flooring is designed to look like hardwood, you can also buy laminate flooring that looks like tile or stone.

Common options include flat, micro bevelled, pressed edge or pillow edge, Hand scraped, embossed, registered embossed, High medium and low gloss, Rustic, weathered, reclaimed, distressed, etc.

Almost all laminate flooring sold today is Glueless and is installed using Floating method. It installs quickly and is ready to walk on. With the correct instructions and some pro tips it can actually be a fun do it yourself DIY project.
